VLCNC-Cares News
Summit Consulting Rises to the Challenge
VLCNC-Cares first worked with Summit Consulting in January of this year as they helped determine the suitably of the buildings and identified the necessary renovations.
Summit Consulting answered our call again in late July and visited the Veterans Life Center in Butner, NC for a second time. They re-toured the facility, identified renovation needs and estimated the cost. Summit Consulting confirmed our estimates that all 8 buildings can be renovated for only $6 Million.
A sincere thank you to the leadership and staff at Summit Consulting for your hard work and dedication to this worthy cause.

Inspector training and upgrade classes
Summit’s Special Inspections department is working to strengthen our position and become a local and regional leader in the field. Perhaps the best evidence of this is the Inspector training and upgrades classes. These are a series of ongoing voluntary classes for seasoned inspectors to upgrade and refresh their existing certifications and prepare new technicians for their initial exams to become an ICC Certified Special Inspector. Since the beginning of this year, two inspectors have added 3 new ICC SI certs to the department’s bank of resources, while another technician is studying to take the highly valued Reinforced Concrete SI exam.
Another evidence of Summit’s commitment to excel is in the recent accomplishment by the department manager to receive the ICC Master of Special Inspection certification, one of only 13 in North Carolina.
